Glass curtain wall material requirements and standards
2024-06-20 Back
As a common form of facade decoration in modern buildings, glass curtain walls have strict requirements and standards for their materials:
I. Glass materials
1. Strength and rigidity: Glass should have sufficient strength and rigidity to withstand stresses caused by wind loads, earthquakes and temperature changes. For example, tempered glass or laminated glass is stronger than ordinary glass.
2. Optical properties: Good light transmittance and low reflectivity are required to ensure indoor lighting and reduce light pollution. Some low-emissivity coated glass can improve thermal insulation while maintaining good light transmittance.
3. Thermal stability: Able to withstand temperature changes without cracking or deformation. This performance is particularly important in areas with large temperature differences.
4. Safety: If laminated glass is used, fragments will not splash when broken, reducing the risk of injury to personnel.
II. Sealing materials
1. Weather resistance: Able to withstand the test of climatic conditions for a long time, such as sunlight, rain, temperature changes, etc., without aging, cracking or losing sealing performance. Commonly used silicone sealants have good weather resistance.
2. Adhesion performance: Good adhesion with curtain wall components such as glass and metal frames to ensure the reliability of sealing.
3. Elastic recovery ability: After being stretched or compressed, it can recover to its original shape and performance to adapt to the deformation of the curtain wall.
III. Metal frame materials
1. Strength and rigidity: The metal frame supporting the glass curtain wall, such as aluminum alloy, stainless steel, etc., should have sufficient strength and rigidity to bear the dead weight and external load of the curtain wall.
2. Corrosion resistance: It can resist corrosive media in the atmosphere, such as acid rain, salt spray, etc., to ensure long-term stability. For example, stainless steel usually has good corrosion resistance.
3. Surface treatment: After appropriate surface treatment, such as anodizing, fluorocarbon spraying, etc., to improve its appearance quality and durability.
IV. Fireproof materials
1. Fireproof performance: In the event of a fire, it should be able to meet certain fireproof time requirements to prevent the spread of the fire. For example, use materials such as fireproof sealants and fireproof rock wool.
2. Smoke tightness and air tightness: can effectively prevent the spread of smoke and toxic gases, and ensure the safe evacuation of personnel.
V. Other requirements
1. Environmental protection: materials should meet environmental protection standards, contain no harmful substances, and be harmless to the environment and human health.
2. Quality consistency: all materials should meet relevant quality standards and specifications, and the materials used in the same project should maintain consistency in performance and quality.
The selection and use of glass curtain wall materials must strictly follow relevant national standards and industry specifications to ensure the safety, functionality and durability of the curtain wall.
