The difference between low-E glass and ordinary glass

Low-E glass (Low-Emissivity Glass) is significantly different from ordinary glass in terms of materials, performance and application. The following are the main differences between them:


1. Thermal conductivity:

Low-E glass is a high-performance glass with a special film coated on the glass surface, which can effectively prevent indoor and outdoor heat conduction. It has low thermal conductivity, which can reduce indoor heat loss and improve the energy-saving performance of the building.

Ordinary glass has relatively high thermal conductivity, and heat is more easily conducted through it, resulting in indoor temperature fluctuations and energy waste.


2. Thermal reflection performance:

3. Light transmission performance:

Low-E glass maintains high visible light transmittance while maintaining good thermal insulation performance, showing excellent optical performance.

Although ordinary glass has good light transmittance, it has a weak effect in blocking ultraviolet rays, which can easily cause damage to indoor furniture, floors and other items from the sun.


4. Cost:

Since Low-E glass has high thermal insulation and energy-saving effects, its price is usually slightly higher than that of ordinary glass.

Ordinary glass has a relatively low cost, but it does not perform as well as Low-E glass in terms of energy saving and heat preservation.


In general, Low-E glass has great advantages over ordinary glass in terms of energy saving, heat insulation and optical properties, which can effectively improve the energy efficiency of buildings, reduce energy consumption and improve indoor comfort.
