Glass curtain wall refers to the building envelope or decorative structure whose supporting structure system has a certain displacement capacity relative to the main structure and does not share the effects of the main structure. Walls are available in single and double glazing. Glass curtain wall is a beautiful and novel method of building wall decoration, and is a prominent feature of the modern high-rise building era. 

There are following types of curtain wall glass:

1Exposed frame glass curtain wall

Exposed frame glass curtain wall is a glass curtain wall with metal frame components exposed on the outer surface. It uses an aluminum alloy profile with a special cross-section as the frame, and the glass panel is fully embedded in the groove of the profile. Its characteristic is that the aluminum alloy profile itself has the dual functions of skeleton structure and fixed glass.

2 Hidden frame glass curtain wall 

The metal frame of the hidden frame glass curtain wall is hidden on the back of the glass, and the metal frame is not visible from the outside. Hidden frame glass curtain wall can be divided into two types: fully hidden frame glass curtain wall and semi-hidden frame glass curtain wall. Semi-hidden frame glass curtain wall can be horizontally bright and vertically hidden, or vertically bright and horizontally hidden. The structural characteristics of the hidden frame glass curtain wall are: the glass is on the outside of the aluminum frame, and silicone structural sealant is used to bond the glass and the aluminum frame. The load of the curtain wall is mainly borne by the sealant.

3 Full glass curtain wall 

An all-glass curtain wall is a glass curtain wall composed of glass ribs and glass panels. The size of the glass panels of all-glass curtain walls is generally larger and should be installed using mechanical suction cups. All-glass curtain walls allow the silicone structural sealant to be injected on-site. All-glass panels must not be in direct contact with other rigid materials. The gap between the board surface and the decorative surface or structural surface should not be less than 8mm, and should be sealed with sealant.

4-point support glass curtain wall 

Point supported glass curtain wall is a glass curtain wall composed of glass panels, point supporting devices and supporting structures. Its support structure forms include glass rib support, single steel or steel pipe support, truss support and tension rod cable system support structure.

5-unit curtain wall 

Unitized curtain wall refers to a building curtain wall that is made of various wall panels and supporting frames into a complete basic unit of curtain wall structure in the factory and is directly installed on the main structure. Unit curtain walls can be mainly divided into: unit curtain walls and semi-unit curtain walls, also known as rigid unit curtain walls. Semi-unit curtain walls can be further divided into: standing segmented unit combined curtain walls and window wall unit curtain walls.
