Why do aluminum windows of insulating glass fog up?

2024-08-02 Back

There are several main reasons for the fogging of aluminum windows of insulating glass:

Sealing failure:

1. The sealant is aged, cracked or of poor quality, causing external water vapor to enter the hollow layer. Long-term temperature changes, ultraviolet radiation and physical wear may degrade the performance of the sealant.

For example, after years of wind and sun, the sealant on the edge of the window has small cracks, and humid air gradually seeps in.

2. The joints of the aluminum spacers are not sealed tightly, forming a leak channel.

Desiccant failure:

Insulating glass is usually filled with desiccant to absorb residual water vapor. However, if the desiccant is not used in sufficient quantity, of poor quality or has reached saturation, it cannot effectively keep the hollow layer dry, causing fogging.

For example, some inferior desiccants lose their moisture absorption capacity in a short period of time.

Production process defects:

1. During the production process, the assembly operation of the insulating glass is not standardized, resulting in a gap between the two pieces of glass, providing a channel for water vapor to enter.

For example, when the glass surface is not cleaned thoroughly during assembly, impurities exist, which affects the sealing effect.

2. The thickness of the hollow layer is uneven, resulting in uneven internal pressure distribution, which easily leads to sealing damage.

The glass is not cleaned cleanly:

There are impurities such as oil and dust on the surface of the glass, which affects the bonding between the sealant and the glass, and thus affects the sealing performance.

External force damage:

The window is subjected to external forces such as collision and extrusion during transportation, installation or use, causing structural damage to the hollow layer.

When installing the window, accidentally use tools to hit the window, causing minor damage to the hollow layer.

In short, the fogging of hollow glass aluminum windows is caused by the combined action of multiple factors, and it is necessary to pay attention to and maintain multiple links such as production, installation and use to avoid the occurrence of fogging.
